Charlie is all excited as we're looking at one of his favourite 'if it's on, I'm watching it' movies which is the political-landscape changing, 1985 film 'Rocky IV' starring Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Carl Weathers.

Warning, in advance - this is our longest podcast yet so may want to split it up into two sessions. The length is due to us inviting on Joe Hogarty, from Disney's Nerd Alert podcast and we love Joe so much that the conversation kept flowing and we lost track of the time (that's always a good thing). 

We talk about the KGB surviving in -30 degree Celsius weather with just a car heater for protection, how this film changed the world and Amanda's love of all things Stallone that (spoiler alert) the first other film she could think of his was 'Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot'..

Nothing screams Christmas than a film set in the Mexican desert(!) As a diversion from our 'Action' theme for Season 3, we are taking a look at this funny classic, starring the collective genius of Martin Short, Chevy Chase and, of course, Mandy's favourite, Steve Martin.

We're also joined by our guest reviewer, or lovely daughter Amy, who I make an advance apology that she'd had Christmas Chocolate and 7-Up beforehand, which explains the 'enthusiasm' 

We would all like to wish you a Happy Christmas but we'll sort the New Year shortly as we're doing an extra podcast before 2021 is ushered in.

It has an Oscar winner hiding in there somewhere, a pair of inept cops, a reporter who has forgotten how to investigate a story, a fighting contest that becomes a tourist attraction, a guy that develops deep a lasting friendships in just under 4 days and a lot of JVCD doing the splits.

Directed by John Carpenter, this is considered to be a classic but, whoa there, Charlie and Amanda might have other ideas.

Starring Kurt Russell, Donald Pleasance, Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Issac Hayes, Adrienne Barbeau and Harry Dean Stanton, this paints a dystopian vision of the future (which is actually our past).

We marvel at the lack of CGI, considering this was post-Star Wars, wonder where the eye patch came from and also if it has any parallels with what's going on today.

Oh, and we get allegory and metaphor mixed up (but definitely know the meaning of irony).
